Move-In Days for Fall 2024

Due to the complex nature of moving over 4000 students on campus, all students must come on their assigned day and time. We cannot accommodate early move-in requests. In mid-July, move in day information will be sent out with your assigned day and time via your Belmont e-mail address, and parking tags will be mailed to your permanent mailing address.

Residence Hall Dates, Routes and Parking

Below you will find move-in day dates, routes and parking for each of our residential complexes. Please follow the route outlined for your building (on your hall's assigned move-in day) to be directed to your check-in location as some traffic patterns are changed for move-in periods only. All students will receive their assigned move-in time (or time frame) in mid-July.

You will be assigned a specific time for move-in on your assigned move-in day when you receive your move-in day packet in July! For the best move-in experience available, it is crucial that you arrive at your assigned move-in time or time frame so that staff are prepared for your arrival.

The times listed above are strictly for freshman and transfer students.

Residents in some halls will receive specific move-in times. More information about specific move-in times will be released in July.

Please note that transfer students participating in Orientation activities but living in upperclassman halls will be invited to move at an earlier date; please see Freshman and Transfer move-in dates for more information.

Due to the complex nature of facilitating this process, we are unable to accommodate requests to move in early. Move-in results in altered traffic patterns, closed parking garages, and limited staff availability to accommodate residents moving in outside of their assigned timeframe. If you cannot arrive at your assigned date/time, you may alternatively participate in a self-service move-in period listed below.

Self-Service (Unassisted) Move-In Alternatives:

During one of the periods below, residents may move in unassisted. As these will not be active check-in times, a staff contact number will be posted at the front desk for check-in and key pickup. You will not need to follow your assigned move-in route/route map outside of your designated move-in time frame.

  • Freshmen Complexes – Saturday, August 17, 1pm-3pm. Note that there will be no volunteers available to assist and limited cart availability. Residents will need to unload from their nearest accessible parking garage. Parking garage access may be restricted due to ongoing upperclassman move-in.
  • Upperclassmen Complexes – Tuesday, August 20, 8am-4pm. There will be no volunteers available to assist and limited cart availability. Residents will need to unload from their respective assigned parking garages. There will be no unloading areas or street parking available. Any vehicles parked in unauthorized areas (e.g. along 15th Ave S, Caldwell Ave, or areas sectioned off for construction) will be subject to citations, fines, and/or having their vehicle immediately towed per Metro Nashville parking and traffic regulations.
  • Residents may also participate in an unassisted move-in on their assigned day (or any day after) 6pm-10pm. All above stipulations will apply.

  • We encourage our students to not bring trailers or U-Haul trucks. Residence Life discourages the use of trailers and U-Hauls as they will not fit in our parking facilities.
  • Later this summer, you will be receiving two rear-view mirror tags to your permanent mailing address. Please hang one mirror tag in each car traveling to campus and refer to your hall’s move-in map to aid with move-in traffic. The maps are linked on this webpage, which will also be accessible via QR code on your hang tag. Please drive safely and do not attempt to scan QR codes while driving.
  • Areas closest to complex entrances will be reserved as unloading zones. You will be asked to relocate your vehicle (to a different lot or garage) after unloading in order to keep unloading zones clear for incoming students.
  • Note that your hall will have a specific parking location on move-in day. This location is noted above and on your hall's hang tag. This location does not necessarily correlate with your hall's normal parking location. If you will be on campus for multiple days, you may wish to move your car to a garage on the perimeter of campus after move-in to avoid move-in traffic, as move-in will continue through Monday.

Helpful Tips for Move-In Day:

  • To cut down on cardboard waste, pack items in reusable plastic bins
  • Save space by buying larger items after you arrive; save time and energy by purchasing through our online marketplace (your items will be waiting for you when you arrive!)
  • Despite our best-laid plans, some check-in areas can experience a bit of a queue if everyone arrives at the beginning of each time block or interstate traffic causes arrival delays. If you experience a wait, you can assist us best by remaining comfortably in your running vehicle and allowing us to provide everyone the same quality experience. Make sure you have enough gas in your vehicle when you arrive at Belmont in case of any major delay.
  • Our Belmont Marketplace program is available if you would like to place an order through our website or one of our partners. Items ordered through Belmont Marketplace are delivered to your room and will be waiting for you when you arrive, cutting down on items you may need to pack or move.
  • Please note that Belmont Residence Life does not offer in-room delivery for any other packages delivered to campus prior to move-in. The UPS Store (campus mail center) requests that no packages be mailed to campus earlier than one week before move-in due to limited storage availability.
