Join our Summer Institutes

Fast-paced and highly interactive classes are designed to equip participants with the most relevant business concepts necessary for success as they begin their graduate business degrees.

Courses are completed over 12 weeks in the summer and students attend classes two weeknights per week and on Saturdays during the program. Students who complete a Summer Institute program hit the ground running, fully prepared for success in Massey’s MBA or MAcc program. All students needing prerequisite courework through Massey must apply for Summer term to the graduate program they hope to continue in Fall. 

Convenient online (SBI) and hybrid (SAI) instruction begins mid May and continues through late-July, early August, with all classes taught by Massey MBA faculty.

Summer Business Institute

Designed and taught by Massey faculty members, the Summer Business Institute completes all prerequisite coursework for Massey’s MBA programs and courses including:

  • Accounting I
  • Accounting II
  • Microeconomics
  • Macroeconomics
  • Statistics

Summer Accounting Institute

Accountants are in demand and recruiters want to meet with our Summer Accounting Institute students before our annual Meet the Firms event, which is held in early fall. Accounting recruiters will visit periodically during SAI classes to meet with students and discuss the accounting industry and career opportunities in their firms. SAI students typically accept their first accounting job offer by October.

Massey's Master of Accountancy prerequisites includes 18 hours of undergraduate accounting coursework. The Summer Accounting Institute is designed and taught by Massey faculty members and completes all prerequisite coursework required for the MAcc program. 

SAI courses include the following subjects:

  • Financial Accounting
  • Cost Accounting
  • Tax Accounting
  • Audit Accounting
  • Excel Workshop
  • Career Planning

Schedule and Format

These 12-week* courses are scheduled to meet the needs of working professionals. 

SBI classes are held synchonously online on Tuesday & Thursday evenings (6:15 PM – 9:00 PM) & asynchronously on Saturdays (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM).

SAI classes are held in-person on Monday & Wednesday evenings (6:15 – 9:00 PM) & Saturdays (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM).

SBI and SAI are the only AACSB-accredited programs in Tennessee that combines a work-friendly, fast-track approach to preparing non-business majors for Massey’s MBA and MAcc programs.
