What is the FAFSA?
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the official form that families use to apply for college financial assistance from the federal government. The U.S. Department of Education uses a family's FAFSA information to determine a student's eligibility for any institutional need-based scholarships or grants, as well as other federal and state (for Tennessee residents) financial aid opportunities. Regardless of how much income a family earns, we encourage every student to complete the FAFSA each year. Once your FAFSA is received by Belmont’s Office of Student Financial Services, we will create a financial aid award that could include scholarships, grants, loans and Federal Work Study depending on eligibility.
