A commitment to technology in medical education
The Frist College of Medicine’s BelTech program is committed to embedding technology into the medical education program. Each FCoM student will receive an iPad for their use during medical school. Students will use their iPads across their medical education journey, from pre-clerkship coursework to clinical rotations.
These devices give students continuous access to electronic resources that will help them each phase of the curriculum. Students can access electronic textbooks, instructional videos, web content, NBME exam review materials, bedside communication aids, myBelmont, Complete Anatomy, and other educational apps. Providing point-of-care resources, and Belmont Medical Library tools made available via an iPad creates a highly interactive and dynamic learning experience.
The devices will be used:
- In class – to take notes, to share their screen in small group PBL and CBL sessions, to read texts, and to study for exams.
- During clinical experiences – in the hospital, in the clinic, on rounds, before a procedure, or to find answers to clinical questions.
- When studying – with key articles, question banks, flashcards, test preparation, and instructional videos.
