Dr. Christian Williams, Director of BSPH Program & Assistant Professor in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, was recently conferred an Honorary Lecturer title by the faculty of Medicine, Health & Life Sciences at Queen’s University Belfast (QUB).
This honor stems from six years of successful partnership with the university including three Maymester courses (2018, 2019, 2022) and two short-term faculty exchange opportunities.
“COVID-19 exacerbated the shortages that existed in the public health workforce and highlighted the need to educate and train public health professionally around the globe,” said Dr. Sharrel Pinto, Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. “At a time like this, to have one of our own be recognized for her work and invited to spend some time in Belfast is truly incredible. I am so thankful that Belmont CPHS has an undergraduate program in Public Health with a leader like Dr. Christian Williams at the helm, training the next generation of public health leaders to care for communities—not just in Nashville, but around the globe.”
As part of the ongoing partnership, Dr. Williams will spend the conclusion of the summer term at Belfast as a guest lecturer and workshop facilitator for several community nursing modules with an emphasis on public health.
Dr. Williams previously visited (QUB) as a guest lecturer in November 2022, when she worked with faculty and students in the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs.
