Biography
Sheryl Handley joined Belmont University in August 2016 and serves as the Lab Manager for the School of Pharmacy. She excels in her role of overseeing the faculty research labs and supporting the pharmacy skills teaching labs. With over 20 years of experience in implementing bioanalytical methods for academia and industry, Sheryl has made significant contributions to publications involving advanced applications of proteomic technologies for studies in molecular toxicology and oxidative stress-induced cell signaling. She also has experience in processing clinical samples for biomarker discovery and validation related to cancer. Early in her career Sheryl earned a post baccalaureate teacher certification from the University of Arizona and taught high school biology, chemistry, and algebra. This experience cultivated Sheryl's passion for supporting student learning and growth. At Belmont, Sheryl is deeply committed to fostering hands-on student research projects, which help students develop critical analytical and problem-solving skills while also providing transformative educational experiences. Sheryl possesses excellent communication, coordination, and analytical skills that have been instrumental to her success in research, administration, and teaching.
