Biography
Joy Nettles (M.F.A., Fairleigh Dickinson University) is a Lecturer in the English Department. She teaches First-Year Writing, Third-Year Writing, Creative Writing, and other specialty writing courses offered through Belmont's Study Abroad program. Her primary interests include composition and creative writing with a focus in poetry and creative non-fiction. She has a passion for exploring the intersectionality of composition and poetry as well as encouraging her students to pursue purposeful writing that fosters deep connection and intentional thought that aligns with their passions. She has served as both a contributor and editor to numerous academic publications and institutions over the years, but her heart is for her students and making sure that their voices are heard and that their lives leave an indelible mark wherever their passions lead.
