Biography

Miller has worked in virtually every aspect of the film and television business as a director, writer and producer.

Upon graduating from high school in New Jersey, Miller enlisted in the United States Navy. After his military service he attended Northeastern University in Boston.  While in school he worked as an editor and director for the school’s television service.  Miller graduated with honors and was accepted to the MFA program for Cinema at the University of Southern California.

In graduate school Miller began directing music videos.  He directed hundreds in all genres for an array of artists including, Garth Brooks, The Smithereens, The Goo Goo Dolls, Vince Gill, Joe Cocker, Eazy E, Bob Carlisle, Reba McEntire and many more.

Miller is a 7-time CMA nominee, a CMA winner as well as winning countless awards from Billboard Magazine, the Academy of Country Music, South by Southwest, Cine Golden Eagle and a long list of others.

His 1999 film, “I Still Miss Someone”, made in collaboration with country star Mark Collie, was a critical success, winning awards and recognition around the globe and was the only short film included at the Independent Film Channel’s, Woodstock ’99 “30 Greatest Films of the Last 30 Years Festival” alongside “Pulp Fiction”, “Nashville”, “Blue Velvet” and “Easy Rider.”

Miller has directed TV shows for HBO, VH1, FX, BET and many more.  He has directed commercials for a wide variety of clients ranging from Lincoln Mercury to Baptist Hospital. Miller has also penned and directed award-winning public service spots for The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and The United Way.

Retired from active production, Miller has been teaching at Belmont for over a decade while spending his free time attempting to perfect his very imperfect golf game.
