Biography
Dr. Jennifer Fowler is a professor of economics and music business at Belmont University. Since 2006, she had held a joint appointment with the Jack C. Massey College of Business and the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business. Professor Fowler's teaching and research interests include entertainment industry economics, consumer expenditures and macroeconomic theory. During her tenure at Belmont University, Dr. Fowler has served the College of Business as Department Chair of Economics & Finance, Associate Dean of Graduate Programs, and Senior Associate Dean of Strategic Programs and Information Management.
Recent publications include the International Journal of Monetary Economics and Finance, Economic Modelling and the MEIEA Journal and she is currently in the process of writing an undergraduate textbook in entertainment industry economics. Dr. Fowler has conducted economic impact studies for the Nashville Zoo and the Nashville Chapter of the Recording Academy. Additionally, she completed a white paper for City National Bank entitled Georgia Film Study and Industry Analysis. She serves as an economic consultant to the advocacy committee of the Nashville Chapter of the Recording Academy, has been quoted by the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s Extra Credit, as well as local and other media outlets on entertainment issues. Dr. Fowler is a member of the American Economic Association, the Southern Economic Association, Music Industry Research Association and the Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association.
Dr. Fowler believes in the importance of giving back to the community. Since 2020, Dr. Fowler has served on the Board of Directors of Ronald McDonald House Charities – Nashville holding positions as board member, Vice President of Grants, Vice President of Development, President-Elect. She currently serves as the President of Corporate Board and the Full House Board. Additionally, she served on the Conservation Committee of the Nashville Zoo from 2020-2023, taught in the Operation Stand Down Tennessee program that prepares retiring veterans to work in the business industry, and actively participates in World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro, TN.
