Biography
Dr. Jeffrey Guy is the Surgery Clerkship Director and Associate Professor of Surgery in the Foundational and Clinical Sciences (FCS) Department.
In addition to his directorship position of Surgery at FCoM, Dr. Guy, is the Corporate Vice President of Care Process Design at HCA Healthcare, a department he created to address complex clinical challenges with scalable solutions across HCA’s network. He also founded the HCA Center for Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Research, which coordinates trauma research system-wide and oversees HCA’s extramural health policy and population health research initiatives. Guy previously served as Division Chief Medical Officer for HCA’s TriStar Division and Chief Medical Officer at TriStar Centennial Medical Center.
Before joining HCA, Guy was at Vanderbilt University, where he directed the regional burn center, served as fellowship director in burn surgery, and practiced in Trauma, Burn and Emergency General Surgery, and Critical Care. His surgical training includes a residency at the Cleveland Clinic Akron General and fellowships in trauma, critical care, and burn surgery at the University of North Carolina, with specialized pediatric training at institutions like Boston Shriners Hospital and New York-Presbyterian. Dr. Guy's impact extends beyond the United States, as he has contributed to international prehospital trauma care development in countries including the UAE, India, Israel, Kenya, Mexico, and Georgia, where he has worked on various training programs.
He and his wife, pediatric endocrinologist Dr. Deanna Aftab Guy, have five children.
