Ibolja Cernak

Biography

Dr. Ibolja Cernak is a highly accomplished clinical researcher and professor with broad multidisciplinary expertise, including an M.D., Residency in Clinical Pathophysiology, Ph.D. in Pathophysiology & Neuroscience, Masters in Biomedical Engineering, and Masters in Homeland Security in Public Health Preparedness. She has more than three decades of experience in teaching and mentoring students in Medical Physiology, Pathophysiology, and Neuroscience in a wide range of academic institutions nationally including Georgetown University, Johns Hopkins University, and Mercer University as well as worldwide (University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; James Cook University, Townsville, Queensland, Australia; 3^rd Military Medical University, Chongqing, PR China; University of Belgrade / Military Medical Academy, Belgrade, Serbia). Dr. Cernak has over 30 years of research expertise spanning clinical and experimental approaches focusing on complex clinical pathologies related to traumatic brain injury, blast injury, and chronic stress. In addition, she is a prolific publisher who has contributed more than 200 research articles in international refereed journals, presented at over 300 professional meetings, produced three patents, and served as a member of several professional bodies including the Subject Committees of the Institute of Medicine of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and NATO Task Groups on Blast and Traumatic Brain Injuries.
