Biography

Erin Carson is an instructor of journalism at Belmont University. She has a master's degree in magazine, newspaper and online journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, and a bachelor's degree in journalism from Belmont. For nearly a decade, Erin covered the intersection of technology, science and culture. Most recently, she was a senior writer with CNET. Her reporting, including longform and multimedia, has taken her from the Johnson Space Center, where NASA uses virtual reality to train astronauts, to some of the internet's darker corners to explore topics like toxic fan culture and the rise of hate online. On the lighter side, she's eaten bugs while writing about alternative protein and cosplayed at San Diego Comic-Con. When not reporting, Erin enjoys painting, reading and keeping up with tech news.
