Ellen Tift Goebel

Biography

Since 1996, Ellen Tift Goebel has been on adjunct faculty, teaching classes and private lessons for Belmont University's School of Music. She has taught everything from pop/rock vocal styles to advanced contemporary instrumental arranging, and mainly focuses on composition and media writing.

When Ellen is not on campus, she is one half of Worldwide Groove Corporation, an electronic music duo. In 2014-2015, Worldwide Groove Corporation put out one new music release a month for 15 consecutive months, totaling 32 songs, most of which were written or co-written and co-produced by Ellen, who also sang most of them. Worldwide Groove Corporation have had songs on national ad campaigns and in TV shows on NBC, ABC, and CBS, and in independent feature films.  Their music has been on playlists in major retail chains, gotten airplay on terrestrial and satellite radio stations in the USA, Europe, and Asia, and have been featured on compilations around the world. Their instrumental track "Smoke & Mirrors" from their debut album climbed up to #1 on the Sirius XM Chill station and held that spot for a few months in 2010. Aside from her work for Worldwide Groove Corporation, Ellen also writes songs for and produces hip hop/rap group Legendary Zeroes and punk pop group Adorable Freaks, among other indie artists releases for Fabulation Records. 

On a different note, Ellen's big band arrangement of her original song "Anyway" captured 3rd place in the jazz category of the 8th Billboard Song Contest, and her string arrangements have been featured on albums by CCM artists like Todd Smith and Third Day. In July of 2004 Ellen's unique production and arranging approach caught the attention of the organizers of the Belluard Bollwerk International festival in Switzerland where they presented and discussed 3 of her works with festival attendees. Additionally, Ellen made her TV debut in February of 2004 as a professional songwriter for the pilot of CMT’s show “Score”.

How did Ellen learn to do so many different things? She attended Belmont University's School of Music where she graduated as a voice major with a Bachelor of Music degree, emphasizing in commercial composition and arranging. Then she headed south to the University of Miami and earned a Master of Music degree in their exclusive Media Writing and Production program focusing on music production, arranging, and orchestration.
