Biography
Daniel Salcedo serves as the Executive Director at the Belmont University Center for Interprofessional Engagement and Simulation (BUCIES) in Nashville, Tennessee. In this role, he focuses on enhancing interprofessional education through advanced simulation methodologies, including the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and extended reality (XR) into health professions training.
Prior to his tenure at Belmont University, Daniel was the Director of Simulation and Educational Technology at Case Western Reserve University's School of Medicine, where he worked on incorporating innovative simulation technologies into the health professions curriculum.
Daniel has been actively involved with professional organizations, including serving as a member of the Technology Committee at the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) and as the Chair of the Technology Enhanced Learning Committee at the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE). He also contributes as an Associate Editor for the "New Wave" section of the Medical Teacher Journal, engaging in discussions on evolving educational practices.
His research focuses on the integration of AI and XR in health professions education. He has co-authored numerous publications exploring the applications of these technologies, contributing to the evolving landscape of technology-enhanced learning. His work provides guidance on incorporating XR and AI into health professions training, addressing ethical, pedagogical, and professional considerations.
Daniel has extensive international teaching experience, collaborating with institutions across Asia, Europe, Australia, North and South America. Notably, he has worked as an international consultant for the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in the development of health professions education in Asia.
He is dedicated to advancing health professions education by implementing innovative teaching strategies that prepare healthcare professionals for the evolving landscape of modern practice.
Outside of his professional work, Daniel enjoys spending time with his Mini Labradoodles, Mai and Mina.
