Biography

Cristi Williams joined the faculty at Belmont University in 2013 teaching Social and Emotional Intelligence in the Media & Entertainment Industries department. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education and Minor Degree in Counseling as well as being a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistics.

Beginning a career as an educator in the early 90’s, Cristi Williams left public education to be involved in the entertainment industry with her daughter, Hayley, over 20 years ago. Hayley Williams is the lead singer of the Grammy award-winning and multi-platinum band, Paramore. 

In 2008 after counseling many bands and entertainers, Cristi founded a mental wellness coaching business called Shading the Limelight. Shading the Limelight provides artists, actors, and entertainers emotional support and tools to help navigate through the challenges and daily demands of the entertainment industry.  Clients include and are affiliated with Sony, Warner, Universal, Nickelodeon, Atlantic Records, Walt Disney Studios, Hollywood Records, and TV Networks.
