Biography
Professor Black is a passionate educator who chose to leave the full-time practice of law to pursue her dream career in academia. As a seasoned lawyer with government, private practice and in-house experience working primarily with nonlawyer clients and business professionals, Professor Black understands the importance of infusing relatable, relevant and current business scenarios into her course curriculum. She uses her research, driven by her fascination with the intersection of law and technology and the disruption that new and emerging technologies are having on the law, to generate new and exciting material for her courses.
Professor Black is equally intrigued with her students. Her compassion for their well-being and whole person and her commitment to equip and empower them to become ethically minded, socially responsible, data-fluent future leaders and change agents are what motivate her as a professor.
Professor Black relocated from Richmond, Virginia to Nashville with her husband, an itinerant pickleball enthusiast. The two are empty nesters with three adult sons located in other big U.S. cities.
