Biography
Dr. Norton brings over 32 years of experience as a physical therapist, with extensive clinical expertise across diverse patient populations in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Recently, she served as the Site Coordinator of Clinical Education and a mentor in the Neurologic Clinical Residency at Vanderbilt Medical Center’s Pi Beta Phi Rehabilitation Institute and Belmont University. Her primary clinical interests include neurologic and vestibular rehabilitation.
Dr. Norton earned her Bachelor of Science and Physical Therapy degree from Texas Woman’s University in 1986 and completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the NeuroRecovery Training Institute in 2017. She is board-certified as a Neurologic Clinical Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and holds additional certifications in adult and pediatric vestibular rehabilitation. As an active member of the APTA’s Neurology Section and the Vestibular Special Interest Group, she has presented on concussion management, vestibular rehabilitation, facial rehabilitation, and balance and falls prevention at local, state, and national conferences.
Her research and publications focus on facial paralysis and synkinesis treatment, and she is interested in balance development and postural control. Additionally, Dr. Norton is involved in international medical service, providing physical therapy services, lectures to students in Haiti, and clinical services in Guatemala. She serves as the Academic Residency Director for the Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency at Pi Beta Phi Rehabilitation Institute at Vanderbilt Medical Center and Belmont University.
