Biography
Caroline Melby Rupard’s career began in Mississippi as a touring musician in a bluegrass band. Playing the mandolin, she toured the country for 12 years starting at age 11. In 2010, Rupard transferred from Mississippi State University to Belmont University. As a student, she interned at a record label and two music publishing companies. After graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Music Business, Rupard began working at Sea Gayle Music Publishing.
In 2015, Rupard accepted a position at Belmont in the Office of Career & Professional Development, specializing in Entertainment & Music Business. In addition to helping students discover their career interest, she leaned into a growing passion for curricular innovation. Rupard partnered with top industry professionals to create new courses bridging the gap between industry and education.
In 2023, Rupard joined the Curb College Leadership Team overseeing Strategic Partnerships & Projects. In this role, she leads marquee events such as “Belmont at the Opry”, “24/7 | A Mental Health in Entertainment Conference”, and the “Alumni Grammy Nominee Celebration” in Los Angeles, CA. On behalf of the students, she has formed partnerships with Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, Gibson, CMA, Nashville Filmmakers Guild, and more.
In addition to her leadership role, Rupard teaches an original course titled “The Artist’s Team” which explores the intricacies of a recording artist’s team and features a network of industry guest speakers.
She has served as The Recording Academy’s MusiCares Ambassador, the Education Chair of Young Entertainment Professionals, is a member of the Porter’s Call Creative Council, CMA, and The Troubadour Society. Outside of her work, Rupard is married to a touring artist and professional songwriter. They have a toddler who loves spending time in the garden with his mom – a place you will likely find her when she’s not on campus.
