Biography
Dr. Amy Henneman has served on faculty at Belmont University since 2020. In addition to serving as Chair and Associate Professor within the Department of Pharmacy Practice, Dr. Henneman holds a dual appointment as Associate Professor Pharmacology in the Thomas F. Frist Jr. College of Medicine. She maintains a clinical practice site in primary care at Neighborhood Health Clinic where she provides medication management via telehealth to patients with complex chronic disease states. She serves as director of the two year Population Health and Academia Pharmacy Fellowship. In addition to developing and teaching cardiovascular and endocrine pharmacology content within the College of Medicine, Dr. Henneman serves as Director of Service-learning incorporating longitudinal, interprofessional service-learning activities across the curriculum. Within the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Dr. Henneman has taught in case studies and pharmaceutical care as well as an ambulatory care elective and previously served as Director of Co-curriculum where she worked to incorporate professional identity formation activities across each professional year. Prior to joining the faculty at Belmont, Dr. Henneman taught within the School of Pharmacy at Palm Beach Atlantic University for 10 years. She has previously served as residency program director for both PGY1 and PGY2 ambulatory care programs. Dr. Henneman previously obtained more than $130,000 in community grant funding to increase medication access to underserved populations and most recently obtained a $6.47 million grant for the development of interprofessional, simulation based opioid education and mobile clinics.
Dr. Henneman is active within the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) most recently serving as Chair of the Women in Academia Special Interest Group. She is also active in the American Association of Health-Systems Pharmacist (ASHP), currently serving as Director at Large for the Section of Pharmacy Educators.
